A Living History Museum Trip
to Gennesee Country Village

June 27, 2009

One of our first outings since moving to New York was to Genesee Country Village and Museum. It is located in Mumford, New York and is based on a 19th century history restoration of a real working village that encompasses 600 acres.

The village consists of 68 restored and furnished buildings available to walk through. A wide variety of buildings are presented to make you feel as though you were really there during the 19th century. They also have many volunteers in period costumes proving information about the history of the buildings and demonstrating a craft or trade. I took tons of pictures but only posted a few to give you an overall feel of the place. If you are ever in upstate New York I highly recommend visiting Genesee Country Village and Museum. It’s a great place to spend the day but remember to wear good walking shoes!
