Chimney Bluff State Park
Lake Ontario

July 5, 2012

While out driving around today we came across Chimney Bluff State Park and decided to take a quick look. The park is located in the town of Huron, New York on Lake Ontario.

They have hiking trails and you can bring your dogs as long as they are on a leash. The large clay rock formations at the water’s edge were beautiful. While standing there looking out at the lake the sound kinda reminds you of the beach with the water lapping at the edge of the rocks. Sounded a bit like waves churning in the ocean.

The Bluffs were formed from drumlins, which were created by glaciers in the last ice age. The erosion caused by wind, rain, snow, and waves have formed razor sharp pinnacles that rise up to 150 feet from the lake shore. In one picture I snapped you can see the Nine Mile Point nuclear power station.

Here are a few pictures I snapped. Enjoy!
